WeMakeaDifference CSR Program

CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY PROGRAM

iPlace believes in giving back. We support our local Pune community through our “WeMakeaDifference” program. Each quarter the WeMakeaDifference team, comprised of employees across the company, selects one NGO (non-governmental organization) with the goal of truly making a difference. There is a different theme for each quarter: humanity, the planet, its animals, and lastly, ourselves.

Happy Meal At McDonald’s With The Kids Of NGO Sparsh

UPDATE – Saturday, March 18, 2017: As part of iPlace’s WeMakeaDifference CSR program, Team iPlace sponsored a “McDonald’s –  Happy Meal” for all the kids of NGO Sparsh.

Most people would agree that we have a lot to be thankful for. After all, many of us live a lifestyle full of conveniences. We live in comfortable homes, wear nice clothes, and have reliable transportation. We have no shortage of clean water or healthy food. We have access to quality healthcare, great jobs, and education, and basically live a good life with a lot of freedom, safety, and security. While it’s easy to take these wonderful blessings for granted and sometimes get into the habit of focusing on what we don’t have, millions of people around the world live without the necessities of life.

CSR – “Corporate Social Responsibility”, for us is not only a responsibility but also an opportunity. What is it that is most appealing about children? Is it simply their cute, adorable looks? Is it their openness to loving and being loved? Their playfulness, their innate humor? Beyond all these things, children are beautiful because they are innocent and they can trust everyone around them implicitly. They want only to be loved, to learn, and to contribute. The time spent with these kids was a very humbling experience. Watching them enjoying their meal and playing with the toys, sure gave us all a sense of peace and gratitude.

Spending precious moments with these kids helped us realize how blessed we all are. How valuable and priceless our life and everyone in it is. It takes great courage and a mighty heart to step out of one’s comfort zone and spend our time to give back and help serve our community. It is important to look at the big picture and acknowledge the importance of experiencing and expressing gratitude through the little things in our lives.

The opportunity to spend time with these children was truly an amazing and heart-warming eye-opener for all of us. We acknowledge and thank all iPlacers, their friends and families for their personal support and contribution in making this initiative a successful one.

About the NGO: Sparsh is a home that provides unconditional love, care, and emotional support to 30 children aged 5 to 15 years. These kids come from mixed backgrounds, some are street kids, orphans, and children of sex workers. Sparsh not only aims at providing these children with good education in order to make them self-reliant people with a healthy lifestyle, but also obtains for them a sustainable quality of life by providing them with food, shelter, vocational skills training, and spiritual growth and development. iPlace USA Visits ResQ Charitable Trust, Pune

UPDATE – Saturday, July 16, 2016: The third quarter of the “WeMakeaDifference” Corporate Social Responsibility Program is dedicated to the most neglected beings in the world – Animals. iPlace teamed up with RESQ Charitable Trust, a full-fledged organization that rescues and rehabilitates thousands of injured and sick animals each year across the city of Pune.

On Saturday, July 16th iPlacers gathered together to add value primarily to the organization by providing hands-on assistance with cleaning grievous wounds and bandaging deformed limbs of animals. We also helped the organization by sponsoring 400 gunny bags and 10 iron vessels.

Some of us devoted our time to the shelter, where injured animals are housed for recuperation and physical therapy. The injuries these animals sustain are gruesome. We assisted in providing necessary medication, bandaging and preventing ticks and flea infestations. This place is not for the faint hearted as working with these animals whose injuries and ailments are like nothing you have ever seen, smelled or heard before. This job demands open-mindedness which causes you to invest undeniably. We quickly learned how to separate our feelings and emotions that naturally arise when confronted with animals who are treated inhumanely.

The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing. We thank Team ResQ and all iPlacers, who volunteered and actively engaged in the kind of work that saves and betters the lives of these injured animals for whom death is almost certain without immediate aid. We would also like to specifically acknowledge and thank Rakhi Kolhe’s family for their personal support and contribution towards animal welfare. Your courage and compassion for defenseless animals are exemplary. We salute you! Working with Team ResQ was an immensely rewarding and fulfilling experience.

Animal Welfare: Fundraising Event CounterStrike Tournament

UPDATE – Saturday, July 9, 2016: The third quarter of the “WeMakeaDifference” Corporate Social Responsibility Program will be dedicated to the most neglected beings in the world – Animals. As a part of our contribution, we will be working closely and supporting animal welfare programs in collaboration with NGO’s like ResQ, Jeev Raksha, L.I.F.E (Living in a free environment) Bodhisattva and Blue Cross, Pune to ensure that animals are treated humanely and responsibly. The role of animal welfare will be dealing with animal abuse, cruelty, illegal trade, rescue, habitat destruction due to environmental degradation and adoption. Every day that each of us contributes towards this noble cause, we move the world one step closer to improving animal’s’ well-being.

To support this cause we successfully arranged a counterstrike tournament as a fundraising initiative for all our employees. The after work CS gaming tournament began with five competitive teams ready to knock out each other in the championship arena. The competitors played tactfully to battle it out against fellow iPlacers and enjoyed every moment of adrenaline, sportsman spirit, and good cheer together.

We would like to express our gratitude to all iPlacers who actively participated and contributed towards making this day a big success.

Come join the animal welfare movement, participate in hands-on efforts and assist with implementing innovative projects that will benefit animals around us. Stay tuned for more photos, events, and updates on animal welfare.

Illegal Posters Cleared From Warje Bridge Flyover, Pune

  • iPlace CEO – Hank Levine and BDM – Ben Brody also lent a helping hand in clearing posters and debris dumped on the pavements along with 45 citizens who participated in the operation to reclaim the ugly pillars of Warje Bridge flyover in Pune.

UPDATE – May 15th, 2016: On Sunday, May 15th members of Swachh Pune – Swachh Bharat, LetsRISE , Lazy Humanz, and Team iPlace gathered together to clear illegal posters that adorned Warje Bridge flyover and make the city ‘clean, green and garbage free’.

The cleanliness drive began at seven in the morning and took two and half hours to finish. iPlace CEO – Hank Levine and BDM – Ben Brody also lent a helping hand in clearing posters and debris dumped on the pavements along with 45 citizens who participated in the operation to reclaim the ugly pillars of Warje Bridge flyover in Pune.

iPlacers along with volunteers from various organizations and residents of nearby areas showed exemplary leadership and drive to improve the conditions and promote civic awareness. It took 30 minutes to clean one pillar. There were four pillars that were cleaned that day. We sprayed water on the pillars to soften the posters and then scraped seven to eight layers of paper bills stuck on top of each other. These bills staring at us at every nook and corner have ruined the city’s appearance.

The drive against illegal posters is necessary for ensuring that the city is cleaner, greener, garbage free and visually less polluted. It feels great to stand hand in hand with other residents of the city and create a positive impact in and around Pune.

We thank all iPlacers who volunteered and actively participated in making this place look clean, and encourage others to join us next Sunday, May 22nd same place, same time as we will be painting the pillars to make it look pretty and appealing.

The Fete’s main aim was to raise money for the children of the Society and also to provide a great day of fun and entertainment for all iPlacers. The attractions of the fete included a food court with stalls selling a spread of delicious meals like pav bhaji, chicken kheema, rolls, kebabs, kulfi, and sodas. Fun and frolic games from Brick in the Bucket, Minion Race, Beer Pong and Tail the Donkey were also a part of the entertainment. For the first quarter of 2016, the WeMakeaDifference committee selected the Institute of Differently Abled People and Research Center located in Wanowrie, Pune. The Institute’s mission is to rehabilitate orthopedically disabled children. We are conducting fundraising activities to provide meals and school supplies, and providing annual tuition for many children.

UPDATE – FEB 13, 2016: As part of iPlace’s CSR program, on February 13th, the teams sponsored a “special meal”, complete with sweets, which are a rare occurrence. CSR for us is not only a responsibility but also an opportunity. It was a very humbling experience to get out of one’s comfort zone, donate our time and help serve our community. We often take for granted the very things that most deserve our gratitude like the ability to see, hear, talk, walk, and enjoy life. It is really important to look at the big picture and getting this opportunity to spend some time with these children was truly an amazing and heart-warming eye opener.
