Position: Intrapreneur

Intrapreneurship at iPlace

iPlace starts at least one new business each year focused on the hiring process. Our continued growth depends on our ability to hire and develop leaders and managers who excel at running our new businesses. As an iPlace intrapreneur, you are responsible for innovation within the company through our Incubator Program. You will develop the skills required to succeed as an entrepreneur, but with much lower personal and financial risk.

Position Description

iPlace currently has five business units. Intrapreneurs complete three six-month rotations reporting to different business unit heads. During each rotation, the intrapreneur works on all phases of the business including developing and implementing business strategies, recruiter management, client management, financial management, quality and performance management, and training and professional development.

Through working on three rotations, the intrapreneur develops a deep understanding of how to start and operate a business. At the end of the third rotation (or earlier for intrapreneurs who join iPlace with entrepreneurial experience), the intrapreneur will launch a business through iPlace’s Incubator Program. If the new business is successful, it will be spun out as its own business unit headed by the intrapreneur. The intrapreneur will then be eligible to earn very large incentives based on the business unit’s revenue and profitability. In contrast to an entrepreneur who takes all the risks in starting a new business, iPlace will provide funding, resources, infrastructure, marketing, and coaching to get the new iPlace business unit established.

Training

Intrapreneurs start at iPlace by going through iPlace Academy recruiter training so that they learn the fundamentals of our business. iPlace pays salaries during training.

Required Experience and Career Path

iPlace prefers that intrapreneurs have entrepreneurial and/or senior management experience, but will also consider competent freshers. All intrapreneurs, regardless of their experience level, must have outstanding spoken English communication skills, be strong writers, and demonstrate exceptional business acumen. Candidates must be eligible to work in India, be above the age of 21, and have a PAN Card for income tax compliance. Backgrounds we consider include:

  • Freshers – Hired from top MBA programs, usually with a concentration or considerable coursework in entrepreneurship
  • Managers – Experience running a business unit or large team in a multinational business; background in international recruiting a major plus.
  • Entrepreneurs – Experience launching new businesses; background in international recruiting a major plus.

Work Hours

Intrapreneurs work a hard nightshift from 6:30 PM to 3:30 AM IST, Monday through Friday (with weekends off). This is NOT a rotational shift; work timings are fixed based on the hours worked by the management of the business unit.

Compensation

  • Intrapreneur’s compensation is based on industry experience and includes a generous base salary with significant performance incentives.
  • All employees are measured on LaunchPad and get pay hikes based on their and organization’s performance.
  • iPlace’s comprehensive benefits package includes company-paid group medical and accident insurance, and the company provided transport or cab allowances. To learn more about the benefits and perks offered by iPlace click here.

Hiring Process

iPlace Talent Acquisition team calls selected candidates and if interested, sends an email with the interview schedule.

Phone Interview: The head of talent acquisition screens candidates to learn about their background, interests, and career goals.

Work Samples and Test Projects: Candidates clearing the phone screen will be asked to provide samples of past work such as a business plan. Candidates may be given a test project to demonstrate their business skills.

In-Person Interviews: Candidates will be asked to spend two half-days at iPlace where they will meet with iPlace’s senior management and business unit heads. During these interviews, candidates will be evaluated on their professionalism, people-skills, proactiveness, self-motivation, business knowledge, openness to feedback, and preparation.

Same-Day Hiring Decision: Offers are made before the candidate leaves iPlace’s office after the second round of interviews. Offers are contingent on candidates passing background and reference checks and providing previous employment and other documents (Aadhaar card, address proof, verification of payslips and relieving letters, and completion of exit procedures).
